It’s summertime and we know you’re ready to get out of town! We’re throwing down some mouthwatering, just-off-the-grill burgers and barbeque so come and get it. Chase it all down with an ice cold brewski and chill in one of our many B&Bs for a short, sweet weekend away. We’re featuring a few restaurants and B&Bs for the very first time and bringing up some we’ve chatted about before in Carmine, West Point, Ledbetter, Round Top, Burton and La Grange, TX.
Keep a watch out in our August blog for more places grilling and chilling in Fayetteville, Cistern, Flatonia and Schulenburg!
Eat up, drink up, shop and stay.
Burgers are definitely on the menu at the popular JW’s Steakhouse and The Pie Shack in Carmine, Texas. And you’d be crazy not to try the desserts at both! Go exploring and put your boots up for the night before heading back to the big city. And the Stuermer Store is less than seven miles from Carmine in little Ledbetter. They’re slinging a pretty good burger and it’s so worth dropping by.
At West Point Crossroads in little West Point, Texas, you can get a burger for less than $6.00. Welcome to the country! Of course Round Top has lots of places to drink and eat up. Royers Caféis awesome sauce. And the fantastic Feed and Firewater has mouthwatering burgers and mouthwatering everything else. The Round Top Area Chamber of Commerce offers this list of eateries and historic B&Bs in and around town. And in Burton, Texas, right down the road, there’s the Burton Roadhouse for burgers, beer and lots of righteous bands. Make a stop at the Burton Short Stop off FM390 West. The fries have Cajun seasoning….
At Texas One Stop in La Grange, indulge in a tender, slow-smoked, 3-meat BBQ plate. Or, check out the burgers at Riverside Café in La Grange – it’s in a little strip mall right off of Hwy 71. Blink and you may miss it. And you can always go back for breakfast.
Sammy’s Sports Grill is also off Hwy 71. Take the exit into the Walmart and there it is. B&B it overnight then go back for more. And peeps, Sammy’s has wings with ghost peppers. Seriously. My Office Sports Bar and Grill is just down the street from there and it just opened up. We’ve bragged about Prause’s Meat Market, the ultimate country meat market. Everything at Prause’s rocks. Get there early! Also in La Grange, right off of Hwy 77 is Legal Tender Brisket & Brewoffering smoky ribs, tangy slaw and ice cold beer. The Back Porch BBQ is an award winner located on N. Jefferson. Sit outdoors. That’s where to nosh and here’s where to stay. Trip Advisor has a few more good ideas.
Sunny skies and fireflies.
