From Round Top and Burton to Schulenburg and Cistern, we’re singin’, dancin’ and romancin’ to local and international musicians, singers and songwriters. We just got started on the topic in our January blog. Read more about the great live entertainment and other can’t-miss events in a very special area of Central Texas.
Music, chocolate, dancing….schedule it all!
On February 10th there is so much going on that you need to just start plugging this stuff in your iPhone. Tickets to Dick Smith’s Annual Valentine Concert are going quickly. Who wouldn’t want to hear the “Sounds of the ‘60’s?” Contact Round Top Festival Hill to buy tickets. At Swiss Alp Dance Hall in Schulenburg on the 10th and 11th, it’s “Rock and Roll for the Red and White!” For tickets, contact Laura Fogle or call 979-743-3080. And how sweet: Flatonia’s 2nd Annual Chocolate Walk is also on Saturday, February 10th from 10:00 – 3:00. We’re talking free chocolate for everyone that attends.
The Stone Cellar and Round Top Dance Hall is sending the love on February 17th with the Valentine’s Dinner Dance w/Rocky King Band. As of the Backroads Blog launch, there wasn’t an update on their website so check with them. If you miss this, there’s live music there on Friday and Saturday nights.
Suzie Q’s Saloon offers live music, red velvet couches and rib eye steaks and it’s a breath away from the center of Round Top on FM 237. Call for February happenings at the White Horse Tavern on N. Main St. in Burton, another place to escape the hustle and bustle of that crazy city life. And the line up in February at the Cistern Country Store and Bar is worth checking out.
Shop, sip, taste, repeat.
Other can’t-miss events: Throughout the entire month of February, you get to experience six wineries offering award-winning wines and wide-open landscapes. These wineries are less than 90 miles from Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Victoria and they make up the six-member Texas Independence Trail. La Grange Uncorked, a full, fun weekend of celebration, kicks off February 16th and runs through the 18th. Shop, sip, taste, repeat! And another sweet Valentine’s event is taking place at the newly renovated Grand Fayette Hotel in Fayetteville that we talked about in December. Call them for details.

As always, we’re so grateful for the contributors that steered us in the right direction. So thank you Mike Stroup. He’s an acoustic guitarist and vocalist worth following. You can catch him at the wonderful Wine Haus in Flatonia on N. Main and at the Stone Cellar this month. And we’ve got to add that the Texas Preservation Dance Hall Inc. is a very special organization we would just like to simply call out.
