Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter was formed in 1994 as Fayette County Animal Shelter. The current facility was built in 2000, in large part, thanks to a generous donation from Gardenia E. Janssen. In 2008, the shelter was renamed in her honor. GJAS takes in on average 1,400 dogs and cats annually and we work tirelessly to enrich the lives of those in our care until we can find a new loving forever home.
