Chuck Hawthorne & Libby Koch
October 26 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Chuck Hawthorne: Berkalin Records recording artist, Chuck Hawthorne, is a singer/songwriter whose songs are influenced by growing up around cowboys and ranchers on a cattle ranch in Amarillo, spending 21 years in the Marines (including multiple tours in Iraq), and listening to the recordings of Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, and Steve Earle. His musical compositions — heavily influenced by the culture of the west and drawing from the same well as his Panhandle music forebears Terry Allen, Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, and Jimmy Dale Gilmore — strike universal heartstrings from a singularly vast and barren landscape. He writes about train lines, coal mines, love, death and misfortune. His songs are sometimes deadly serious; sometimes raucous, and always passionately written and delivered.
Libby Koch: Texas Americana singer-songwriter Libby Koch (pronounced “coke”) is a country meets soulful (Free Press Houston), feisty Texas songbird (Country Music People) who sings her story with a little twang, some slide guitar, and a lot of heart (Texas Monthly)
